Lord Rix, Chancellor of UEL, awarded degrees, diplomas and certificates to graduating students from over 40 countries and personally congratulated them.
There were seven outstanding achievement awards presented to graduates from different countries including Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan.
Ahmed Masood from Dagenham graduated with a Distinction in MBA International Business. He said: "I'm really happy to pass with a distinction because it has been tough at times but definitely worth it. The facilities at the Docklands campus were great such as the library."
Senthilnathan Saravanan from Southall graduated with a Distinction in MBA General Marketing. He said "I’ve enjoyed my time here. UEL has excellent lab and computer facilities – all of which have helped me reach here today."
Jeannette Simpoha from Newham graduated with a LLM in Human Rights. She said: "It’s been a great day and I’m delighted, it’s really a reward for me because I worked so hard. I really enjoyed all the international trips organised by the international office and the student services were really helpful. It’s good for me as I am new to London."
Naga Punnamaraju from Newham graduated with a Masters in Biotechnology and Management. She said: "I’m originally from India and it’s been a really interesting time at UEL. I’m really excited about graduating today and I’ve especially enjoyed using the facilities such as the library."
The event was also attended by distinguished guests from the Malaysian High Commission and the Education Consulate & Welfare for Nigeria. They joined academics and International Office staff at the ceremony.
Lord Rix said: "Today is a celebration of success for you, our International students. UEL is truly a global community and rightly renowned for its multicultural diversity as well as the quality of its academic programmes. I hope you will go on to succeed in your chosen careers and I wish you all the best."
