
Hundreds of visitors came along to the University of East London (UEL) Summer Open Day on Saturday 27 June to find out more about the range of exciting undergraduate and postgraduate courses and combinations on offer this academic year.
Taster sessions and talks were full at both the Docklands and Stratford campuses. Visitors took part in a host of activities including playing interactive Xbox computer games to generate interest in the BSc Computer Games Technologies programme.
The Games demo was led by Graham Hoffman, a third year student on the course and winner of the first ‘E-factor Business Plan Competition’ in 2007 during his first year at UEL for his idea of a ‘Console Café’. . Catherine Downes, Director of Corporate Marketing said: “I’m really pleased to welcome everyone here today. UEL has so much to offer people from all walks of life and we are continuing to invest in both our campuses to make our facilities even better.”
Visitors were able to get a feel for both campuses with tours of libraries, labs, studios and state-of-the-art IT facilities. At Stratford campus, the event was held in the brand new Conference and Computing Centre, complete with 400 seat lecture theatre and landscaped courtyard.
At Docklands, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences announced a range of postgraduate scholarships and bursaries for the 2009/10 academic year. The deadline for applications is 22 July 2009, for further information email ssmcs@uel.ac.uk. Other forthcoming open days include:
