Get set for Mayfest 09

Mayfest

Come along and celebrate the joys of summer at Mayfest 09 at the University of East London (UEL) with an exciting programme of events on Wednesday 6 May from 12pm until late at the Docklands Campus.

Following on from last year’s success in the sunshine, Mayfest will feature a thrilling and diverse programme catering to everyone’s tastes including art and photography exhibitions, music, dance, poetry and literature performances bringing together the work of professionals, students, school pupils and community groups in a celebration of culture and creativity.

This year’s programme includes the Nostalgia Steel band, Art on the Docks, the Thames Discovery Programme, the Cutaway, a fashion show, Moe Foe, Barking Bateria, Listening on the other side of the Rainbow and the Chairs - Ionesco’s play revamped by 1st year Performing Arts students at UEL and much more to suit everyone.

Mark O’Thomas, Director of UEL’s Institute for Performing Arts Development, said: “Mayfest this year is set to be bigger and better than ever before. It’s great to see a variety of people from all walks of life enjoying different aspects of the programme and coming together to share in new experiences as well.”

Mayfest will take place at the University of East London Docklands campus, University Way, London E16 2RD. The easiest transport is by DLR Cyprus station on campus. There is no public parking, only public or alternative transport.
