Students win £100 each and get Moore business ideas from local estate agent

Wednesday 13 May 2009

A group of five students from the University of East London (UEL) Business School have won £100 each for an award winning presentation on the theme How to market to landlords? from a local estate agent based in Dagenham, Essex.

The five students beat fifteen other groups, also from UEL, for the best marketing and communications presentation to Ramsey Moore, who are a small independent estate agency offering property sales, lettings, management and mortgage advice.

The three finalist groups had to show representatives from Ramsey Moore, who set up their estate agency business last year, their ideas on how to reach one of their toughest markets - landlords in a twenty minute power-point presentation.

Michael O’ Brien, Partner at Ramsey Moore said: “Congratulations to all the students for taking part in this competition, we’ve really enjoyed it and they’ve asked us really challenging questions that we didn’t expect. We’ve been impressed by their ideas which were of high quality, informative and well researched. They’ve definitely shown us new proposals and also added to ideas that we already had.

“We opened last year in a difficult economic climate and as a small business, it’s always good to get feedback from the outside and see how we are perceived so that we can improve.”

Bob Lentell, Associate Dean of the Business School at UEL said: “I’m delighted for the winning students and to everyone who took part in the competition, they’ve all been very business focused.

“We’ve seen students here today who really understand marketing theory and have put it in practice with Ramsey Moore. We would like more scope for projects like these as well as placements and internships for our students. The students get to see how businesses actually operate in the community and how professionals like Ramsey Moore work – it makes a huge difference.”

One of the winners was Faizaan Ahmed, 21, who is in his second year studying BA Business and Marketing. He said: “The whole team has worked really hard together and would like to thank Ramsey Moore for this great opportunity.”
