Kano gets fresh with UEL students at Fresher’s Ball

Friday 10 October 2008

Urban music star Kano joined more than 350 new University of East London (UEL) students at the Freshers Beach Ball on the evening of Wednesday 8th October 2008.

Students sported Hawaiian shirts and skimpy swimsuits for the ‘beach ball’ themed party, sponsored by WKD and held at the Troxy nightclub in Limehouse. As well as Kano, acts included beatbox sensation FaithSFX.

Local hero Kano is one of the UK’s biggest stars on the urban music scene with hits that include ‘Brown Eyes’ and ‘This Is The Girl’ featuring Craig David. Originally from East Ham he has also worked with Dizzee Rascal, Wiley and Durrty Goodz. His new album 140 Grime Street has just been released.

Throughout the month of October, UEL is running a programme of events, ‘Making Black History Now’ featuring films, fashion, music, performance, comedy, discussions and debates to celebrate Black History Month 2008.
