Spirited staff from the University of East London (UEL) have raised hundreds of pounds for Leukaemia Research after taking part in the London Bikeathon – the capital’s biggest charity bike ride, held on Sunday July 13.
In total, seventeen UEL staff completed the challenge, trekking city streets past sights including Thames Barrier Park, St Paul's Cathedral, the London Eye, Richmond Park and the Royal Chelsea Hospital. Between them, the energetic team clocked up over 520 miles.
Greg Price, Senior HR Manager at UEL, said: “This is the second year we’ve taken part in the Bikeathon and it’s been great to get back in the saddle. The camaraderie amongst the thousands of participants is really something special.
“Last year we were delighted to raise around £2000 for Leukaemia Research. With the support of generous friends, colleagues and family, we’re now well on our way to reaching that target again.”
The full UEL team consisted of Jan Bernet, James Hiew, Mike Moore, Kevin Pearch, Paul Kernaghan, Rosalynd Milroy, Lee Morris, Toby Grainger, Del Basi, Ted O'Donnell, David Douglas, Max Douglas, Greg Price, Mike Raddie, Bernie Englefield, Rohan Alexander, and Hadleigh Bayley.
