All welcome to UEL Summer Open Day – Saturday 14 June

Friday 6 June 2008

Live music, free strawberries and insightful advice will all be on offer at this year’s University of East London (UEL) Summer Open Day, to be held at the Docklands and Stratford campuses on Saturday 14 June.

Over a thousand visitors are expected to enjoy guided tours of the campuses, talk to staff and students about the hundreds of degree programmes and combinations on offer, and pick up advice and guidance on all aspects of UEL life.

The event's packed programme includes welcome presentations, subject specific talks, campus and residential tours, live music, DJs and more. Visitors can tour exciting new buildings, and a free shuttle bus service will run regularly between the two campuses.

UEL has recently invested over £170 million in new campus facilities, including state-of-the-art library and learning centres open 24 hours a day, a new waterfront Student Village, and the new Business School and Knowledge Dock Centre at Docklands.

At Stratford, the impressive Centre for Clinical Education was formally opened in January, and a major new lecture theatre and computing centre will be completed later this year.

Emma Burchfield, Head of Student Admissions, said: “The University of East London is increasingly seen as a first-choice university, not only in London but nationally and internationally.

“We are very proud of our diverse and multicultural learning community, our excellent facilities and growing reputation for teaching and research. This Open Day is a wonderful showcase for our new facilities and offers visitors the perfect opportunity to find out more.”

UEL’s Docklands Campus is home to the schools of Architecture and the Visual Arts, Business, Computing and Technology, and Social Sciences, Media and Cultural Studies. The Stratford Campus is home to the Cass School of Education and the schools of Health and Bioscience, Law and Psychology.

The UEL Summer Open Day will take place from 11am to 4pm at the Docklands and Stratford campuses on Saturday 14 June. For further information or to register for the event, visit www.uel.ac.uk/openday or contact Karen on 020 8223 2249.
