East London entrepreneurs seek secrets of success at UEL networking event

'It's not about being a genius', was the message to over seventy East London entrepreneurs who gathered at the University of East London (UEL) Knowledge Dock Centre on Monday 16 April, for an evening of insights and enlightenment provided by one of the UK’s leading business gurus. 

Brad Rosser, former Corporate Developments Director at Virgin Group, was the evening’s keynote speaker. Brad, now co-founder of the Inside Track Group, the UK’s largest residential property investment service for individual investors, gave a talk entitled The multi-million pound business idea.

Brad said: “It’s a sad fact, but most start-ups are destined to fail; only 20% will ever make it to their sixth birthday. However, contrary to popular opinion and what most TV shows will have you believe, success is not dependent upon being a 'genius' or having the 'perfect' idea.

“The real key lies in testing and challenging your idea before you spend precious cash and time on something that may never be viable. Take the time to educate yourself; talk with successful entrepreneurs and learn from their experiences; take advantage of resources such as the valuable advice and courses available at UEL.

“If you've got the right idea, there's really nothing to stop you from developing it into your very own multi-million pound business.”

The networking event was organised by Knowledge Dock, UEL’s enterprise support and development service, in partnership with Business Start-up Community, an internet portal for start-ups and enterprises in their early stages of growth.
