A man who survived 23 years on death row before being exonerated by DNA evidence will tell his amazing tale in a public lecture at the University of East London’s (UEL) Stratford Campus on Wednesday 28 March.
Nick Yarris was wrongly convicted and sentenced to death for a murder that occurred in Delaware County, USA, in December 1981. After becoming the first American to request DNA testing, Nick was finally exonerated and released in 2004.
Nick now acts as a spokesman for Reprieve, a UK charity fighting for the lives of people facing the death penalty and other human rights violations.
‘Surviving Death Row’ will take place at 5pm on Wednesday 28 March at Duncan House, Stratford High Street. For further details, contact Dr. Sylvie Langlaude on 020 8223 2112 or s.langlaude@uel.ac.uk.
