The war against cyber-crime will top the agenda when leading experts in computer and internet security gather in London’s Docklands for the 3rd International Conference on Global E-Security (ICGeS) on 18-20 April.
With increasing use of the internet has come an exponential rise in cyber crime. The World Wide Web has been exploited by criminals globally and the increasingly widespread use of wireless networks allows hackers more opportunities for fraud, deception, identity theft and cyber-terrorism.
The 3rd International Conference on Global E-Security will be held at the Docklands campus of the University of East London (UEL). The conference will address issues including information security, criminal data mining, and network and web security. Particular emphasis will be placed on emerging threats to technology, such as VoIP, and how they relate to international security and fraud prevention.
Keynote speakers include Colonel John Doody, Director of Interlocuter Services Limited and former head of Information Assurances Customer Services, Sukhvinder Hara of the Serious Fraud Office, Thomas Andersson, President of the Global Trust Centre, Vasilis Zorkadis, of the Hellenic Data Protection Authority, Frank Leonhardt, journalist and commentator on VolP, Aminata Taal of Kroll Ontrack, and Vernon Poole, Head of Business Consultancy at Sapphire.
This year’s conference will also mark the launch of a new Cyber-crime Victims’ Unit (CVU) at UEL’s Docklands Campus. The CVU is being developed with academic, industry, law enforcement and government partners throughout Europe to act as a central conduit for the reporting and analysis of cyber-crime.
The Annual International Conference on Global e-Security was set up to create dialogue between crime-fighting agencies, the security industry, researchers and experts, and establish a platform from which security can be examined from several global perspectives.
