Students from across East London and Essex came to the University of East London (UEL) Docklands Campus on 7 February for special master-classes designed to help them decide on their future careers. Pupils from Palmers College in Grays, Dagenham Park School and the College of North East London took part in exercises around accountancy and enterprise, with teams of students making decisions on how to develop businesses including a radio station. Karmen Chan, 16 a pupil at Palmers College in Grays, said: “It’s been a great experience and it has helped me to decide what I would like to do at University. UEL looks really good and the facilities are fantastic.”
Becky Cooper, 16 also from Palmers College added: “It was really good to meet new people from other colleges and the day has convinced me to try and go on to university.”
Charlotte Weltz, UEL Colleges Partnership Officer said: “Today went really well and we look forward to organising similar events in future.” UEL hosts a range of summer schools, master-classes, exhibitions and events with local schools and community groups throughout the year.
