Publishers, journalists and media professionals launched ‘MagLab’, a new online research and debating forum all about magazines at the University of East London (UEL) Docklands campus last Friday 9 February.
At the launch, MagLab's co-founders Richard Sharpe, director of Editorial Training Consultants and Andrew Calcutt, Senior Lecturer in Journalism at UEL, identified how publishers can get smarter in branding their magazines.
The event was attended by publishers, including the publisher of the journalists' trade paper Press Gazette, editorial managers, journalists and magazine designers from the UK and Ireland. The debate continues in the discussion forum at www.maglab.org
Richard Sharpe, director of MagLab said: “The purpose of the event was to connect academics and practitioners in the magazine world and to see the dialogue between the two. Today’s launch has seen some rich expertise in the room and has been very successful.”
