Havering pupils get their voices heard at UEL

Monday 12 February 2007

Havering school pupils attended an education taster day at University of East London (UEL) Docklands Campus last Friday 9 February to give their opinions on school life.

Students in year’s seven to eleven from Abbs Cross School in Hornchurch attended a session where they could give their ideas that would benefit the organisation of their school.

Steven Brown, a pupil at Abbs Cross said: “It was a really good day where we could give our opinions on how a school is run.”

June Frost, a fellow pupil said: “I’ve had a great day and coming to UEL has made me consider going to university later on in life”

Su Garlick of UEL’s School of Education and organiser of the event said: “The children were well behaved and participated well in the activities. The day has been really successful and they seemed to enjoy it too.”

UEL hosts a range of summer schools, master-classes, exhibitions and events with local schools and community groups throughout the year. For details, call 020 8223 2598.
