The results of a multi-million pound redevelopment programme will go on show as the University of East London (UEL) opens its Docklands and Stratford campuses to prospective students and local residents on Wednesday 10 January.
Visitors will be able to explore exciting new buildings, discover more about hundreds of degree programmes and combinations on offer at UEL, and pick up advice and guidance on all aspects of university life.
Those interested in postgraduate opportunities, including research degrees and a wide range of professionally recognised diplomas, doctorates and taught Masters programmes, can meet tutors and researchers in the ‘postgraduate lounge’. New Masters programmes introduced this year include MSc Terrorism Studies, MA Landscape Architecture and MSc Applied Positive Psychology.
With New Year starts becoming an increasingly popular alternative to the traditional September entry, visitors will also be able to apply immediately for a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes starting in February 2007.
Sandra Hollis, Director of Corporate Marketing and International Office at UEL, said: “We have invested over £170 million in our campus facilities over recent years and it's very exciting to see the results. This open evening will enable prospective students to find out about the opportunities on offer and experience a dynamic and successful modern university.”
UEL’s Docklands Campus is home to the Schools of Architecture and the Visual Arts, Business, Computing and Technology, and Social Sciences, Media and Cultural Studies. The Docklands Open Evening will take place in the brand-new Business School, which features a vast ‘trading floor’ style computing hall, a 400-seat lecture theatre, an innovative Library and the Petchey Centre for Entrepreneurship.
UEL’s Stratford Campus is home to the Schools of Education, Health and Bioscience, Law and Psychology. The Stratford Open Evening will take place in the Passmore Edwards Building, formerly home to the borough Museum and now refurbished as stylish Students’ Union facility.
Other new developments at include the Children’s Garden Early Years Centre, the Centre for Clinical Education in Podiatry, Physiotherapy and Sports Science, and the Knowledge Dock Centre, home to UEL’s enterprise development and support service.
