All graduates of the University of East London (UEL) are invited to attend a career development and networking event at the UEL Docklands campus on Tuesday 10 October.
The evening will give UEL alumni the chance to find out more about business and job opportunities in East London, as well as to informally chat, network and build new contacts.
Recent graduates will also be able to learn more about what services the UEL Alumni Network can offer, including regular newsletters, reunions and expert careers advice.
The event, which follows a Public Lecture by Professor Gavin Poynter, will feature a presentation from Thorsten Klein, HotHatch & Enterprise Zone Manager at Knowledge Dock, UEL’s Enterprise Development and Support Service. Thorsten will explain the extensive services and opportunities that Knowledge Dock offers to UEL graduates and the wider community.
Emma Cale, UEL Development and Alumni Officer, said: “Knowledge Dock provides a link between businesses and graduates, offering a variety of services and running a range of short courses and events to encourage entrepreneurship in East London.
"At this alumni event, UEL graduates will be able to find out more about the great benefits they can still receive from their old university, as well as to network with fellow alumni, make new friends and socialise with old class colleagues.”
Information on job vacancies and placement schemes run by New Dimensions, an employment service located at Newham College of Further Education, will also be available at the alumni event.
Graduates of UEL and its predecessor institutions go on to succeed in a wide range of fields. High-profile alumni include film director Ken Russell, Hilary Armstrong MP, government minister for social inclusion, Mark Frith, editor of Heat magazine, human rights lawyer Imran Khan, CNN Anchor Daljit Dhaliwal, Turner prize artists Rachel Whiteread and Jake Chapman, Laxey Chairman Colin Kingsnorth, Molex Inc president Martin Slark, the late Ian Dury and many more.
The alumni networking event will be held at the UEL Docklands campus on Tuesday 10 October. Food and drink will be provided and the event is free, but places must be registered. Please contact Emma Cale on alumni@uel.ac.uk or 020 8223 2222 to book.
