Wanstead High School pupils get brain training at University of East London

Monday 25 September 2006

Over 150 sixth-form pupils from Wanstead High School got their brains into gear for the new academic year on a visit to the University of East London (UEL) Docklands campus.

The trip, organised as part of their Year 12 induction, began with an introductory Brain Gym activity. The pupils then took part in interactive sessions led by UEL lecturers and teachers from Wanstead High School on subjects including independent thinking, time management and study skills.

UEL student ambassadors were on hand to guide the Wanstead pupils around the campus, answer questions and help with activities.

Kerry White, Schools Liaison Officer at UEL, said: “It’s been a great day and a really good opportunity to give the students an idea of what will be expected of them both in the Sixth Form and if they go onto Higher Education.”

UEL hosts a range of summer schools, masterclasses, exhibitions and events with local schools and community groups throughout the year. For details, call 020 8223 2598
