Thinking of university in 2006? Find out more at the University of East London (UEL) Open Evening on Wednesday 11th January.
Hundreds of local residents of all ages will attend the event, held at UEL’s Docklands and Stratford campuses, and many will be making on-the-spot applications for degree programmes starting in February.
February starts are becoming an increasingly popular alternative to the traditional September entry and UEL is a leader in the field, with more than 100 programmes offering February starts. Several thousand applications have already been received.
Carol Elliott, Head of Admissions at UEL, said: "The February intake has really taken off. For many students, it is an ideal time to start a degree programme. We are getting tremendous interest from a wide range of applicants, including mature students seeking to change their careers and younger students who are taking a few months off to work after school or college before applying to university.
“Last year around 800 students joined in the second Semester, making up over 20% of total intake for the year. This is a system that really works for us and our students and we are looking to extend it in future."
Tutors and specialist advisers will be on hand to offer guidance on all aspects of student life. The Schools of Architecture and the Visual Arts, Business, Computing and Technology, Social Sciences, Media and Cultural Studies will at Docklands campus, while Duncan House in Stratford will host Law, Psychology, Education, and Health and Bioscience.
“The Open Evening is a chance for anyone considering further study or career development to find out what we have to offer”, said Marion Tappin, Head of Marketing Services at UEL. “We hope it will be informative and enjoyable. Visitors will meet staff and students, talk to our advisers and find out what university is all about.”
The Open Evening begins at 5.30 pm and continues until 8 pm at both campuses. To register, phone 020 8223 2884 or log on to www.uel.ac.uk/opendays
