Publications and Design

 

The Publications and Design team leads, creates, develops, directs and project manages the production of UEL’s publications and promotional materials to support student recruitment and the student experience. Our services include design, art working, illustration, photography, proofreading, copy editing and sending to print of a huge range of publications and other items, ensuring they promote UEL and our constituent Schools and Services in a positive and attractive way. We also maintain consistent branding and house style throughout the University’s promotional materials, advertising and corporate publications.

The range of UEL’s internal and external marketing materials includes bespoke productions for clients across the whole of UEL, including all Schools and Services. This covers a wide range of materials such as:

• prospectuses – we edit, design and artwork UEL’s postgraduate, undergraduate, mini, international and multi-award-winning VDP prospectuses (including our undergraduate prospectus, voted Student Prospectus of the Year 2012 by the Association of Commonwealth Universities).

• Schools and Services support – we handle around 1,200 job requests from Schools and Services each year to support student recruitment and the student, for brochures, magazines, posters, banners, flyers, plasma screens, cards and much more. We even design t-shirts, bags and tea towels!

• bespoke publications – we produce a wide range of high-quality publications such as brochures, policy documents and other items for a range of clients including VCG, UEL Sports, UEL International, etc

• alumni – we edit, design and develop the alumni magazine, for a global network of 50,000 alumni. We also support all alumni activities eg. events branding etc

• plasma screen notices – we produce advertisements and notices for plasma screens and other digital media, ensuring that information can be relayed quickly and attractively to staff and students

• promoting the brand – we ensure all publications are produced to UEL’s brand guidelines and house style, ensuring consistency, and a professional, high-quality appearance across our entire range

• photography – we are continually developing our library of photographs and supporting graphics, ensuring that the University’s publications and digital media remain contemporary, visually attractive and fit for purpose. We can also offer advice on the right images for your publication.

Our team of highly skilled, in-house graphic designers enable us to offer:

• a dedicated service to all Schools and Services
• detailed knowledge and experience of UEL and its needs
• the fastest and most cost-effective service available, with no charge to Schools or Services for design and editing work
• an editing and proofreading service to ensure our publications are of the highest standards, again at no cost to the client
• the development of new materials to support UEL’s strategic objectives and day-to-day needs (for example, our guide to league tables, and our currently in-development conference pack)
• we maintain and uphold UEL’s house style for marketing materials, ensuring professional publishing standards are applied to all our publications
• we also implement or support the development of multi-channel marketing and integrated advanced digital solutions through the convergence of online and print-based technologies to bridge the gap between print and online mediaTom Hillier

How do I request an item?

If you wish to request a new publication or need design work, then in the first instance you should contact a Marketing Account Manager. They will be able to discuss your requirements and brief them into the Publications and Design team.
