Anthropology, Development, Politics, Refugee Studies
Anthropology, International Development, International Politics and Refugee Studies is a multidisciplinary field that provides the intellectual foundation for critical thinking, academic inquiry, independent work and skills needed for employment. Our academics include highly published internationally recognised scholars in each discipline.
Our Anthropology courses allow you to specialise whilst giving a thorough understanding of ethnographic fieldwork necessary to take this into practice. International Development draws on economics, politics, sociology, cultural studies and history to produce a holistic picture of the issues faced in the ‘Third World’. Students are encouraged to travel to these regions as part of a credited semester abroad.
The undergraduate and the postgraduate NGO management programmes are especially focused for those seeking employment in development and non-governmental agencies.
International Politics adopts a critical approach to contemporary political discourses; challenging the assumption that globalization is an inevitable and progressive force in the modern world, and students are given the critical tools necessary to evaluate the contemporary political order.
We have a thriving community of PhD students within the school.
