Introduction to Law and Criminology

Short course/8-10 weeks duration (including assessment period)

The aim of this short course is to introduce you to the study of law and criminology. It will provide you with basic skills with which to proceed on to either the LLB (Law degree) or the BA Criminology and Criminal Justice. Successful completion of the stand-alone course will result in a certificate from UEL.

  

Admissions requirements

All applicants will be considered on their individual merits in line with the University Mission Statement of widening participation in Higher Education to non-traditional students. Students are required to have a grade C in English Language. This course is not recognised by the UK Home Office for student visa purposes.

  • Introduction to legal and criminological materials
  • Rule handling
  • Statutory interpretation
  • Reading case law
  • Understanding quantitative and qualitative methods
  • Problem solving.
