Harold Wilson’s ‘white-hot technological revolution’ to Tony Blair’s ‘information society’, the prospect of knowledge having a revolutionary impact on the economy has been a source of both great hope and great hype.
This new video features some of the key contributors to a one-day conference in collaboration with spiked-online, discussing what it means – if anything – to live in a ‘knowledge economy’ today. Among the issues debated:
Contributors include: Stephen Timms (Government Minister for e-commerce), Professor James Woudyhousen (Social Forecaster), Alan Miller (Managing Director Vibe Bar), Norman Lewis (director of technology research, Freeserve.com plc) and Dolan Cummings (editor, The Internet: Brave New World?).
The video is designed to raise issues for discussion in business seminars and training days, and to be used as a teaching aid in a range of educational settings from sixth form and FE colleges, to under- and post-graduate courses.
Produced and directed by Thorsten Klein. Commentary and interviews by Phil Cohen. 22min VHS. Produced by London East Research institute in association with spiked on line Released January 2004.
