LERI consultancy teams have delivered on a number of innovative projects - with local communities, businesses and government. Each project in its own way has developed LERI’s research networks and teams’ capacities to better understand and contribute to local, national and international debates. These projects have worked to address some of the opportunities and challenges facing legislators, businesses and residents in a rapidly changing area of London.
This flow of activity has provided a stimulus to other areas of LERI’s work. For instance (and in some cases) we are able to draw on the original research conducted in our consultancy projects in academic publications and in our short courses. LERI’s consultancies give emphasis to ensuring a dialogue between clients and researchers and between research teams and the wide range of respondents we are able to engage. Where relevant we work to situate the specific projects within wider academic and policy contexts. We typically blend a range of qualitative and quantitative methods ranging from focus group interviews to quantitative economic analysis.
Part of LERI’s mission includes extending the ways the university can work in East London and the Thames Gateway towards gaining a better grasp of the complex issues attaching to urban development, renewal and regeneration. Such work ensures we remain closely connected to the practical and policy related developments in the Thames Gateway. LERI’s consultancy work has lead to media coverage in quality national media (press and TV) and has provided a basis for some of our most exciting international collaborations.
