ExCeL Economic Impact Studies

The first detailed study examined the economic impact of the Exhibition Centre London, for the ExCel Centre, the UKs largest exhibition space, LERI from 2004 - 2009.

Following on from this, the second economic impact study conducted further analysis to assess the likely impacts of a proposed expansion to the current ExCel facility, increasing from 64,000 msq – 100,000 msq. The study projects impacts across an 8 year period accounting increases in conference visitors, including the effects of ExCel’s planned role as a venue for the 2012 Olympic Games.  The analysis focuses on employment, visitor spending and visitor numbers through to 2013 using detailed forecasting methods.  The report will form part of the evidence to be presented to London Borough of Newham in advance of their decision about planning permissions for the proposed expansion.
