The advent of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games puts our region in the global spotlight as never before. The University of East London is closely involved in sports development, the Olympic Park legacy, and other projects which are rapidly developing in the run-up to the Games.
As part of the London Borough of Newham Consortium, UEL is an official Pre-Games Training Camp for London 2012. We are listed in the official guide produced by the The London 2012 Organising Committee.
UEL research and development teams have been involved in various aspects of the bidding and planning process, and are working on a range of research, knowledge transfer and consultancy projects for the Olympic Delivery Authority, Greater London Authority and other key agencies.

To ensure a sustainable legacy for sport and health in our communities, we are working with partners including the London Development Agency, British Swimming, the British Paralympic Association, London Health Commission and local authorities across our region. Globally, we have developed partnerships in Beijing, Sydney, Barcelona, and other host cities around the world.
