Online Databases

Basing your assignments on good, reliable sources is critical to achieving a good mark for your work. We subscribe to a number of databases which hold full text access to a large amount of academic articles and research for you to use. It is also vital that you reference your work correctly so please see the library link to 'Cite Them Right' Referencing for more information.

Confederation of British Industry News, business links, the confederation's own journal, and information on current business issues.
Companies House Official government site for UK companies. Contains information and advice as well as a link to the Companies Act 2006. Please see the Keynote database for financial data on all UK registered companies.
Business Week magazine Owned by Bloomberg, this online magazine is in the same vein as The Economist, with articles on business, politics, culture and economics
Department for Business, Innovation and Skills Information on its activities and resources; exports and investment; business support; regulatory guidance; science and industry; and economic competition.
Institute for Fiscal Studies Large amount of published information available on a range of business-related issues. Contains links to its research centre.
The Cherie Blair Foundation Site contains some useful resources to female entrepreneurship and women in business.
CIA World Factbook Find information on geography, economics, politics, military and communications for more than 200 nations worldwide.
Office For National Statistics Useful site map and links to other associated organisations.
UK Trade and Investment UK Trade and Investments for information on UK business exporting abroad.
Transparency International This site can help you find corruption figures for nearly every country in the world. This is particularly useful if you are studying corporate responsibility and governance.
TED Talks in Business Find inspiration and new ideas from a range of people speaking at TED talks on topics of business and leadership
Quandl Quandl is a free to use repository of time-series data. It is especially relevant to anyone looking to find financial, economic, or demographic data, as well as social datasets.

Finweb Heavily American resource. Contains links to economics magazines as well as other useful financial information.
United States Securities and Exchange Commission For access to the EDGAR database for company information and reports on those based in the US.
UK Treasury Search economic information, news, budget news, initiatives, guidance, etc.
INFER - International Network for Economic Research A not-for-profit organisation which supports research in economics. Has extenisive list of publications and working papers to read.

Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Accountants specialising in medium sized companies. This site contains recent articles on tax-related issues.
International Monetary Fund Large website containing extensive materials produced by the IMF. Useful country information, press releases, financial snapshots and archives back to 1996 are all included.
Institute of Chartered Accountants: Library Redesigned site with extensive/detailed collection of links. Also contains some full text coverage, reading lists and links to their professional library catalogue (Which includes searching for books and abstracted journal articles).
CIMA: Chartered Institute of Management Accountants  News from the sector and information for members and prospective members.

British Library IP and Business Centre  – For advice on starting and growing a business as well as a huge array of resources and databases, visit the BL IP and Business Centre.  You will need to register for a Readers Pass to gain entry.  Details are on their website.

City Business Library  –The City Business library is a free public reference library, no membership is required.  It houses a large business related collection of print journals as well as access to many online databases.

Westminster Library Business information Points -Helping people to set up their own businesses, the BIP’s offer a wide selection of books, databases and advisors who can help you access the information you need.
