A talk as part of UEL Go Green Week with
Rachel Aldred, UEL Sustainable Mobilities Group
Rachel will explain what sustainable transport might mean, what its benefits could be for people and their environment and take a quick look at the current political situation: is change likely? Where it might come from?
Richard George, Campaign for Better Transport
Richard is the CBT’s Roads and Climate campaigner and was a co-founder of campaign group Plane Stupid. He will outline the case against building new roads, explain what’s happened in the past and what the current government’s plans are.
Justin Spinney, UEL Sustainable Mobilities Group
Justin will talk about ‘Bikes. Green and Cool?’ looking at the rise of fixed-wheel messenger chic in London. Is trendy cycling useful or off-putting? How can we get an inclusive cycling culture where lots of different people feel happy on bikes?
