Professor Alberto Reppold will be giving an overview of the work being undertaken in the areas of Olympic and Sports Studies in his university, the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in Porto Alegre and its relation to the research being carried out in Brazil as a whole.
Professor Reppold is seeking to identify areas of possible cooperation between the University of East London (UEL) and the UFRGS and the seminar will give the opportunity to participants of acquainting Professor Reppold with work being done in their areas which might be of interest to UFRGS. This seminar will also be of general interest to colleagues working on London 2012 and legacy-related projects.
Professor Alberto Reppold is Professor of Olympic Studies in the School of Physical Education of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in Porto Alegre, Southern Brazil. He coordinates the Olympic Studies Centre at the UFRGS and is the Brazilian representative on the International Olympic Committee's Olympic Research Centre in Lausanne. Professor Reppold holds a doctorate in the Ethics of Sport from the University of Leeds. His most recent publication is “Urban Regeneration and Citizen’s Rights: the case of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta” in DaCosta, L. et al. (eds.) (2008) Legacies of Sports Megaevents.
