How to use UELs Phone System

Calling UEL from an External Number

The main University telephone number is 020 8223 3000.

UEL Switchboard’s normal hours of operation are Mon-Fri 8.30am-5.30pm. If you know the extension you require you can reach them direct by dialling 020 8223 followed by the individual’s four-digit extension number.

Student Residences

The main number for Student residences is 020 8223 5000. You will then be asked to enter the extension number of the flat.

Making External Calls

Dial ‘9’, followed by the number. If you cannot dial the number because it is beyond your programme limits, dial ‘0’ for UEL Switchboard Operator and they will obtain the number for you.

Transferring Calls

Internal and external calls can be transferred to another extension. Press ‘inquiry’, dial the four-digit extension number you are transferring the caller to and then press ‘transfer’. Download a guide to other phone functions
