Disability and Dyslexia

What assistive technology does IT Services have?

We have a range of assistive technology, including text–to–speech screen readers, scanners with Kurzwell 1000, alternative keyboards, mouse units, voice recognition software and screen magnification software.

I think I might be dyslexic what can I do?

Quickscan is software used to help assess if you have dyslexia. It is located on the University menu under Disability and Dyslexia software, we also have Read and Write, SuperNova and a selection of different web views. In the Library there are dedicated staff for Disability and Dyslexia advice. Find out more.

How can I print my Quickscan results?

  1. Select the Windows key on keyboard
  2. Select Start - Programs - Microsoft Office 2007
  3. Open Microsoft Word
  4. Click on the round Office Button
  5. Select Open
  6. Under file name type in your unique identity code (UEL******.qrf)
  7. From the ‘files of type:’ tab select ‘all files (*.*)’ and then select ‘open’
  8. From the ‘convert file’ box select ‘plain text’ and then ‘OK’
  9. A Word document will appear with your result. Save and print as usual.
