Facilities and IT Training

This is not an exhaustive list, but does provide a guide to the excellent facilities accessible to students and staff at UEL.

Assistive technology

We provide a range of software and assistive technologies designed for students and staff with disabilities and dyslexia. Find out more.


Audio visual equipment

This is availabe in each of our pool teaching rooms for ‘walk in, switch on’ use. Internal telephones are available in each room to facilitate communications with IT, Facilities and Security staff.


Computer labs

Over 1,800 computers are available for student use across our campuses. Our Libraries, theTrading Floor at Docklands and the Conference and Computing Centre at Stratford have a large number of open-access computers, many of them available 24 hours a day during teaching weeks. Other computer facilities are available until 9pm Monday to Friday when not in use for teaching. Your School may also provide addtional computers for use as part of your studies.


Computer suites

Designed for general use, these are located at Docklands Campus on the Trading Floor of Royal Docks Business School, in the AVA Building and at the Multi-Media Production Centre. At Stratford Campus, suites are located in the Conference and Computing Centre and at Duncan House.


Teaching/presentation facilities

Our large lecture theatres contain a video projector and drop down screen controlled from a lectern fitted with interactive panel. Smaller rooms contain a lecturn, video projector and interactive whiteboard. All teaching and meeting rooms contain the following equipment :

  • Networked PC
  • DVD player
  • VCR*
  • Blu-ray*
  • Amplifier for program sound with microphone input for speech re info rcement
  • Source switching with projector control
  • External inputs for Data, video and audio
  • A Personal loop system is available from our AV counter service for rooms that do not have a permanent loop system.

Instructions have been placed in every room and IT support staff will be available to provide assistance where necessary.

*Availability update

  • VCR - These are gradually being phased out, portable units are available upon request
  • Blu-ray - All new installations include Blu-ray

The equipment above is only available in selected rooms. Please check with Timetabling or call our AV Support on 2468 (Option 2).


Technical advice

This is accessed via the IT Service Desk, where we will attempt to resolve your problem over the phone. If we can not resolve your problem immediately over the phone it will be asigned to the relevant support team..

Telephone

All teaching and presentation rooms contain an internal telephone and we have a full-service to student residences on Docklands campus. Find out more.
