Why Study at UEL

University of East London is a vibrant and diverse learning community.  US students are currently enrolled on our undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in subject areas ranging from International Business Management to Theatre Studies. There are lots of reasons why students from USA choose to study at University of East London:

  • A bachelors degree at UEL takes only three years to complete and a masters degree is only takes one year.  This means that your tuition and living costs are considerably lower and that you graduate a year earlier than your peers.  Degrees from the UK are generally considered to be the same level as those from the US.
  • Federal Aid from the US is normally transferable to UEL
  • We have a fantastic London location – with one campus in Stratford (right next to the 2012 Olympic development site), and another in the Docklands – (close to London’s financial centre, Canary Wharf)
  • We have outstanding facilities at both campuses and are one of the top universities in the UK for investment in facilities per student
  • We have guaranteed on-campus accommodation for international students.  All rooms are single occupancy and have en-suite bathrooms, modern facilities and internet access.
  • Next year we plan to open our brand new £18 million multi-purpose fitness centre at the Docklands Campus. The facilities will be some of the best available to students in the whole region.

University Links in the USA

We have strong links with several institutions in USA including Colombia College Chicago and University of New Mexico.  These links enable students on particular courses to study partly in the UK and partly in USA.

UEL and the Olympics

This is an exciting time to be a student at UEL. UEL lies at the heart of London 2012 and UEL staff and students have various roles to play, as the Olympic and Paralympic Games come to east London.

The University of East London is closely involved in sports development, the Olympic Park legacy, and other projects which are rapidly developing in the run-up to the Games.  Our games-time partners include ASICS, British Swimming, LOCOG, Team Singapore and Team USA who will be using our sports centre, SportsDock, as its games-time training centre.

As well as hosting international sports stars we’re helping students to find work and gain new employment skills. In the build-up to London 2012 a number of opportunities to get involved in the Games have been promoted to UEL students, including roles in sports journalism, broadcasting, security and retail.
