We offer a number of our programmes overseas through franchise arrangements with partner institutions. Currently we franchise programmes in a range of disciplines through partners in Malaysia and Singapore and we will be developing further agreements in other regions in the future.
We have articulation agreements to enable students to transfer to UEL from a partner in order to complete their studies, and vice versa. We have specially designed top-up programmes to facilitate a seamless transfer from institutions overseas to UEL. For example, our top-up BA International Business and Leadership programme enables students from some of our partner universities in China to transfer from their home institution to complete their degree at UEL.
Students from all over the world join UEL’s Study Abroad programme, which enables students to study with us for a semester, or an academic year, and take the credits earned back to their home institution. In addition, our own students travel to our partner institutions to complete elements of their courses.
ERASMUS is an EU-funded programme which encourages mobility of students and staff between Higher Education Institutions in member states of the European Union and associated countries.
Erasmus promotes educational, cultural and linguistic interchange. So far over a million students have participated in the Erasmus programme.
Through the Erasmus scheme, we have links with over 40 European institutions including:
We have exchange agreements with institutions across the world, enabling students to study part of their programme at UEL and part with one of our partners. Examples include:
We provide bursaries for our students to spend short periods overseas and are working with a number of our partners to support this initiative. This year the countries visited included China, Turkey, USA and France.
More information about our Going Global Bursary can be found here.
Through UEL's Language Centre, we can create partnerships with organisations worldwide to offer Language training to students, faculty and managers. Each year we deliver a summer programme in English Language, British Cultural Studies and Internet Security to a group of 20 students from Berufschule Landshut, one of our partner institutions in Germany. The programme was jointly run with our School of Architecture, Computing and Engineering and was funded by the European Union and it won the Leonard da Vinci Good Practice in Education award in 2010.
More information on our Language Centre can be found here.
Research underpins all that we do at UEL. Our commitment to excellence and innovation in research informs our teaching and creates an environment where there is freedom for ideas and intellectual thinking to develop across disciplines.
We are proud to have many world-renowned research partners overseas. One example is our link with University of Sao Paulo (USP) and Gama Filho University in Brazil, relating to legacies of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London and Rio de Janeiro. Through this partnership, the three universities hosted a symposium in London, analysing and improving our understanding of urban development and place-shaping when linked to hosting a global mega event.
