For postgraduate programmes, our normal requirement is IELTS 6.0 or 6.5 depending on the programme. We also accept many other English language qualifications including country specific examinations.
We also have Pre-sessional Academic Language Centre which means, if your IELTS or other scores need to be improved, that we may be able to offer you a place subject to passing our Pre-sessional before starting your chosen programme. If you have been made an offer, but have to defer for a good reason to the start of the next in-take, you will need to send an email to our International Admissions office at admintl@uel.ac.uk Please note that normally you can only defer your entry once and for no more than one academic year. If, after this, you would still like to join us, you may need to reapply.
If you already have qualifications or attended courses in the programme you wish to apply for, you may be eligible for advanced entry, that is direct entry into Year 2 or 3 of an undergraduate degree programme. If you think this may apply to you, indicate the year you wish to be considered for in the ‘Year of Entry’ section on the application form and then explain in more detail in the ‘Additional Information’ section why you think you may be suitable for an advanced entry placement. Please provide as much information as possible, including documentary evidence, module details and a grading quote.
UEL has its own admissions procedures so you will still need to complete an application form. Please indicate the year you wish to be considered for in the ‘Year of Entry’ section on the application form and then explain in more detail in the ‘Additional Information’ section why you think you may be suitable for an advanced entry placement. We will be able to verify your studies to date internally.
If you have been made an offer for one of our programmes, but you have now decided you would prefer to be considered for a different programme, you need to contact the International Office at international@uel.ac.uk explaining why you would like to be considered for a new programme. Depending on your new programme choice, this may be possible. However, we may ask for additional information to support your application to the new programme.
