As Korean student who has grown up living in Africa the biggest factor that motivated me to study at UEL was the fact that it's located in London. London is a very exciting city. Everything in London is new and mind-blowing to me. Also, the fact that UEL is a new University attracted me. UEL is a University that boasts flexibility in courses and prioritizes the learning experience for students.
I enjoy studying at UEL because it allows me to make new friends from all over the world. Also, the lecturers and tutors are very kind and help me when I ask for it.There are also trips organised by the International Office for International students to have a chance to visit tourist attractions. The most valuable aspect of my programme would be the fact that it is a combined honours. By taking two courses, I am able to choose from a big list of potential jobs I could apply for in the future.I love living on-campus. There is no need to worry about anything because the security is tight. This allows the students to feel at home and most importantly, they will not feel stressed while studying. The rooms are equipped with different items depending on the type of room you choose to live in, but the core items you will find in the rooms would be a bed, a desk, some chairs, a telephone, a bookshelf, a storage place and a wardrobe. Every room has 1 free LAN port for high speed internet access. I would highly recommend UEL because I believe that it allows students to have so much fun while studying.

David 씨: Why did you decide to study at UEL?
Park J-H: As a student studying Cultural Studies, the reputation of the school in the field was one of the most important things when I chose the university. UEL got very good ratings in RAE, so I didn't hesitate to apply. Another thing that most Korean students worry about is daily expenses and tuition fee I guess, but if you got good grades in your university, UEL guarantees winning scholarships for its international students. There aren't many schools give that great opportunity.
David 씨: Why do you enjoy studying at UEL?
Park J-H: UEL is located in London, so not only can you experience great British cultural and historical heritage of central London, but also you will be able to enjoy beautiful view of Royal Albert Dock. There are many international students so you can have great friends from various countries, and international officers in UEL are very kind and helpful so you can visit them and ask their advice when you have any difficulties.
David 씨: Have you seen much of England?
Park J-H: Yes, if you got bored just staying in London, the international office offers international students fantastic weekend trips to various places so you can join if you want some study break!
David 씨: What do you think of UEL's facilities?
Park J-H: As for the academic aspect, library in UEL opens 24 hours except bank holidays or Christmas vacation, so if you want to stay up late and read books, you can stay in library as long as you wish. There are lots of books in library but when you can't find books you want, you can request librarian inter-library loan, that means UEL librarians request the book from other libraries for you, so you can get the book at the UEL school library. There are many computers in ground floor, and you can have wireless internet access in the library. Faculties in UEL are greatest advantage of the school, they are great scholars in their field and also very kind and helpful, as long as you study hard.
David 씨: What are the most valuable aspects of your programme?
Park J-H: My major is Cultural Studies. I would say now we live in 'Cultural age'. Culture doesn't just mean movies or music, it covers lifestyle, publications, TV programs, museums and galleries, so we literally surrounded by cultures and always affect and are affected by it. Understanding various culture and analyzing it, in this sense, lead to better understanding of the various people who possess and enjoy it. The Korean Wave is influencing various asian countires and korean movies are remade by Hollywood. What does this multi-national culture mean and how does they affect on cultural industries? There might be hundreds of possible answers, and your study can be one of them.
David 씨: Do you enjoy living on-campus?
Park J-H: Very much. On-campus accommodation is comfortable, secure, and convenient. In late evening and at night, there's security guard at the entrance, and CCTVs are set up every accomodation. Each room, has a bed, a desk, bookselves, a closet, window, and most importantly, private bathroom. Free internet access guaranteed, and you share kitchen with your flatmates. There are refrigerators, a oven, a microwave, and a teapot. Cyprus DLR station is right in the campus and bus stations are everywhere. You can jog alongside dockside in the morning with fantastic view, and take a walk in the evening, watching beautiful sunset. I have never regreted to stay in on-campus accomodation, I am really enjoying my stay in here.
David 씨: How about living away from home? Is it easy washing clothes and buying food?
Park J-H: Yes, there are also two launderettes on campus, you can use them with your student card. Supermarkets ASDA, TESCO and Chinese supermarket LoonFung (you can get some Korean ingredients here) are 10~20 minutes away.
David 씨: Would you recommend UEL to a friend?
Park J-H: Definitely. If you want to study in London, UEL can be one of the best places you can go.
