We offer airport collection for all international and ERASMUS/exchange/study abroad students on one day only. To check the next Airport Pick-up Service date for January click here. We regret that we cannot arrange airport collection on any other day.
The Airport Pick-up Service is only available for students arriving into Heathrow or Gatwick. Please make sure your flight arrives in London on this day and not the day after.
We also request that where possible students book flights to arrive morning or afternoon
You will need to request for airport collection when you register for the Welcome Programme. Please ensure you have a visa and have booked flights before signing up.
Please note we only offer this free service on the dates stated (see January schedules) and cannot collect you or arrange collection for you on any other day. If you are arriving on an alternative day please see travelling to UEL. If you plan to arrive before the stated date you will need to make sure you have arranged you own accommodation, as there are no temporary rooms on-campus.
Please ensure you have with you:-
When you arrive our student ambassadors will be waiting for you the other side of customs with UEL Welcome banners. They will be wearing big smiles and green UEL T.shirts so it will be hard to miss them! We will try to check all flight numbers, but sometimes a flight can be delayed, or for other reasons students arrive at a time other than they have specified. If this is the case for you and providing it is still Monday 28th January 2013, please remain at the airport.
In the unlikely event that you have failed to contact or be contacted by a UEL ambassador, please follow these 4 Steps
1) Go to the information desk at the terminal that you have arrived at. We will check regularly to see if anyone is waiting there.
2) Ask the information desk to put out a message asking for a UEL ambassador to go to the information desk where you are waiting
3) In the unlikely event we still have not met you, please make your way to Terminal 1 (Heathrow), or South Terminal (Gatwick) where you will find the team
4) Please only call the emergency number if you really need to. This number will be emailed to all who have registerd for the airport pick up service nearer the time and is only to be used on Monday 28th January 2013.
If you are not staying at Docklands Campus, our ambassadors who will meet you on arrival, will be happy to book you a taxi (payable by yourself) to your residence.
If you are an International fee paying student who has booked a place on campus you will be entitled to a bedding pack (duvet, pillows etc)
Please ask your student ambassador when you arrive on campus about supermarket trips and campus tours which will be running throughout the day and early evening.
There is also a common room with games and refreshments that will be open until around 11pm. Please ask student ambassadors when you arrive for details.
When you've settled in, come along to our free Film Night on Docklands Campus.
Kind regards,
International Office
