Vehicle insurance cover & claims

The details of UEL’s vehicle insurance are as follows:
Insurer: Royal Sun Alliance (via Aon Limited)
Policy number: RKK534308

The Motor Fleet Insurance held by the University of East London covers all University-owned vehicles whilst used for University business in the following areas:

• Third party claims, including bodily injury, death or damage to vehicles
• Loss, theft or damage to UEL’s vehicles
• Limited personal effects stolen from vehicles
• Limited medical expenses resulting from injury to passengers or drivers of UEL-owned vehicles

A £250 excess applies to all theft, fire or accidental damage to UEL vehicles, with the exception of windscreens, where a £250 excess only applies to minibuses.

Driver Exclusions

Insurance cover is provided for all Authorised Drivers of UEL vehicles, with the exception that drivers of minibuses must be aged 25 or over to be covered.

Accidents and Claims

If you are involved in an accident in a UEL vehicle, you must inform the Insurance Officer as soon as possible and fill in a Vehicle Accident Form (see below) and, if possible, gather the following information while at the scene:

• From the third party: Vehicle registration numbers, names and addresses of any other drivers involved.
• From witnesses: statements and contact details of independent witnesses.
