What to do in an Emergency

It is strongly recommended that you obtain an Emergency Assistance card before you travel. This card can be downloaded at the bottom of this page and is issued by Lifeline Plus Group. the insurance company used by the University. The Travel Insurance covers travelers for emergencies such as medical treatment, replacement of lost/stolen documents and cancelling credit cards. You can also read more details on what Lifeline Plus Group. can help with. In the event of an emergency while overseas, ring the helpline on the Emergency Assistance card.

When calling please quote:

• Policy Number 0015865161 in the name of the University of East London
• Name, date of birth and home address of the person requiring assistance
• Situation you require assistance with or nature of the illness/injury
• Contact details for the person requiring assistance, doctor/medical facility involved and any other contact number for family, colleagues etc.
• Dates of trip and travel details

Lifeline Plus Group will talk you through everything you need do, arrange the necessary assistance and keep in touch with you until the situation is resolved (or until your departure back to the UK). You can ask Lifeline Plus Group.  to ring you back if you are on a mobile phone or need to get to a more suitable landline. This also means that Lifeline Plus Group. will bear the cost of the call (which should be considered, as you are unable to reclaim telephone costs as part of the insurance).

On your return to the University, please notify the Insurance Officer of any incidents
