Before you travel, please read and familiarise yourself with the University's Personal Accident and Travel Insurance policy as well as the Policy and Benefits Schedule (available to download at the bottom of the page). A synopsis of the policy is also available to download, both for staff and students. The policy is reviewed each year on August 1, so ensure you check back regularly, particularly after August 1, to have the most recent version.

You are also strongly encouraged to read the advice for what to do in an emergency situation before you commence your travels.

Please note that some exclusions apply for countries where the Foreign and Commonwealth Office warns against all non-essential travel as well as for the following specific countries: Colombia, Iraq, Mexico, Nigeria, Philippines, Venezuela and Yemen. Please contact the Insurance Officer if you expect to be visiting these countries or any other destinations that you are unsure of the status of.

Please also note that volunteers or other guests of the University are normally covered under this policy when travelling with UEL employees or students, whereas external consultants need to ensure cover under a personal travel insurance.

More information about Insurance cover as it specifcally relates to Fieldwork is available in Appendix 8 of the Fieldwork Policy and Code of Practice in the Occupational Health and Safety Unit Handbook. For general questions or more information about the cover provided by the University’s Insurance, please contact your School or Service administrator or the Insurance Officer.

Documents: valid 1 August 2012 to 31 July 2013
