The University Travel Insurance is supported by 24 hour emergency assistance operated by Lifeline Plus.

You MUST obtain an Emergency Assistance card before you travel. This card is issued by the insurance company used by the University. It covers travellers for emergencies such as medical treatment, replacement of lost/stolen documents and cancelling credit cards. In the event of an emergency while overseas, ring thehelpline on the Emergency Assistance card. (This can be downloaded via the link on this page )
If you need to make a claim under the Personal Accident and Travel Insurance for any reason, initially contact Lifeline Plus Group Helpline where the majority of the claims will be resolved over the phone. Where requested please complete the appropriate form listed below, scan and returned to the Insurance Officer via email: insurance@uel.ac.uk.

Lifeline Plus will talk you through everything you need do, arrange the necessary assistance and keep in touch with you until the situation is resolved (or until your departure back to the UK). You can ask them to ring you back if you are on a mobile phone or need to get to a more suitable landline. This also means that they will bear the cost of the call (which should be considered, as you are unable to reclaim telephone costs as part of the insurance).
On your return to the University, please notify Insurance Officer via email: insurance@uel.ac.uk with details of your incident.
Please note: Failure to contact Lifeline Plus in the event of an emergency could lead to seriously enhanced costs being incurred, which the insurers may be entitled to curtail or even decline to pay.
