This prestigious achievement was marked by the presentation of a gold medal in last month's gala ceremony, accepted on behalf of UEL by Del Basi, OHS Manager. Dusty Amroliwala, Pro Vice-Chancellor, said: "I am delighted that the efforts of all colleagues at UEL to maintain the high standards of health and safety across our University have been recognised so publicly for the fifth consecutive year. The award speaks volumes for the attentiveness that all staff pay to this really important area of our work and, quite properly, to Del Basi for his personal commitment and leadership in this field."

New book edited by Cass academics mentioned in House of Lords debate

Only one day after it was published, a book edited by Eva Lloyd and Helen Penn, co-directors of ICMEC, the International Centre for the Study of the Mixed Economy of Childcare based in the Cass School of Education and Communities, was mentioned in a House of Lords debate. Lord Listowel referred extensively to Childcare Markets – Can they deliver an equitable service? in support of his argument that the UK may be relying too heavily on a mixed market in social welfare services.
