Green move out

Green move outDespite the terrible recent weather conditions, our Green Move Out volunteers at Docklands are doing a sterling job! The array of items donated by students has been immense, ranging from TVs and food processors to clothes, tinned food, BBQs, stationery and enough bedding to create a patchwork quilt to fill the atrium in the East Building! CRISP, a local recycling and reuse charity have been making collections throughout Green Move Out and we are waiting in anticipation to find out just how much waste we have diverted from landfill.

Book Harvest success

book harvestThank you to everyone who donated books for Book Harvest. We collected over 200 books and filled over 5 crates in two weeks.  Book Harvest collect unwanted books and find new homes for them, helping avoid the books being discarded into landfill. Book Harvest currently collects from 43 institutions in the UK and also so supports Book Aid International, who sends books to the developing world. Just think your copy of Applied Physics may soon being read over 3,000 miles away by a budding young physicist in Sub-Saharan Africa!

Call for gardening tools

gardening toolsDo you have spare watering cans, bean poles, seeds or any gardening paraphernalia lying around unused at home? If so, the Environment Team will happily take them off your hands. Please drop off small items to RB 2.21 at the Stratford  Campus and EB2.17 at the Docklands Campus. If you are donating large items, please contact Emily Hamilton to arrange a suitable collection point.  All donated items will be used for our Grow Your Own project at Stratford. We meet every Thursday 12.30- 1.30pm. Check out our website for more details.
