Athletics test event

AthleticsUELSports are hosting two Try a Sport 365 events at Stratford (Monday 20 February, 10am – 4pm) and Docklands (Tuesday 21 February, 10am – 4pm) Campuses.

Students are invited to try sprint, jump and throw disciplines, speak to Athletics Club members and coaches, and meet special guests, including GB senior international high jumper Samson Oni. There will also be a competition in which the best male and female participant can win signed GB kit.

Catering at UEL: taking steps towards sustainability

Feel Good Food DayIn 2011, UEL signed the Sustainable Fish City pledge and picked up a Good Egg Award. This year, we have already celebrated our first anniversary and reaccreditation as a Fairtrade university and held a Feel Good Food Day at Stratford with seasonal vegetables and MSC-certified fish. Next week, The Edge will be serving organic meat and a vegan option on Tuesday 21 February, while the Buzz will be meat-free on Wednesday 22 February. All of these and future steps are outlined in the recently published Sustainable Catering Action Plan.

Did you know…?

Water…the average person in England and Wales uses 150 litres of water a day, almost 50% more than 25 years ago. Check the Energy Saving Trust’s Water Calculator to see where you could be saving water (and energy) in your home.
