A fine, vigorous Dixit Dominus is followed by a dignified Confitebor, a cheerful Beatus Vir, and a polyphonic Laudate Pueri. The sparkling setting of the Laudate Dominum is a real 'tour de force' for the soprano soloist, after which the Magnificat is argued out between soloists and chorus, and brings the whole work to a fine conclusion.

On Friday (8 February) some of our Business School colleagues turned out in the glorious spring-like sunshine to plant a sapling. The Ash Claret (Fraxinus angustifolia Raywood) tree was donated by one of our Business School colloborative partners on behalf of his classmates. The group of German students graduated last November.
Chris Koenig whose idea it was to donate the tree said: " I donated the Ash Claret because it is common in both the UK and Germany.. It serves as a link between our countries. Instead of sending you a commorative plaque I realised the tree itself would tell the message. Nobody will know or remember us anyway - but the tree may prosper, and become a landmark, and serve us with shade in the summers to come, when all of us are retired.."
The tree will reach its maximum height in 25 years (about 70ft) and will potentially retain this height for up to 4 centuries. The tree will become a wide spreading deciduous tree with breathtaking autumn colouring when shoot tips turn royal purple followed by the interior leaves turning orange, pink and gold. In summer, the tree's leaves are glossy rich green above and a paler underneath. Hanging fruit clusters in autumn provide good bird food in spring.
