Staff and students welcomed Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh for the official opening of our new Business School and Knowledge Dock Centre on Friday.
Rolf Harris and art students led a sketching master-class with pupils from local schools, and Bollywood dancers and the ‘Magic of Learning' performance from the Lord Mayor's Show - were also part of our Community Pavilion - showcasing partnership work with local schools, colleges and community groups.
The main presentation party included Chancellor Lord Rix, Stephen Timms, MP for East Ham, and Professor Martin Everett, our newly appointed Vice-Chancellor. 350 guests including Prince Turki of Saudi Arabia and other dignitaries, as well as staff and students, attended a presentation, and Her Majesty unveiled a plaque to formally open the Business School and Library.

This March check out mpc.uel.ac.uk <http://www.mpc.ac.uk/> an interactive support website for all Multimedia Production Centre (MPC) users. Staff and students are able to register to suggest content, purchase some MPC surplus items and there are plans for this already interactive and ‘dynamic’ website to become even more interactive for the future.
Key sections describe the MPC’s personnel, procedures, rules and regs, information about the Equipment Store and its audio-visual kit for hire, Mac, music, video and PC support sections which have information about the MPC’s studios, tutorials and guides, links to external resources and frequently asked questions. For example: music studio tutorial - http://mpc.uel.ac.uk/content/view/55/45/, FAQ on how to scan - http://mpc.uel.ac.uk/content/view/38/35/, guide to MPC’s studio microphones - http://mpc.uel.ac.uk/content/view/47/45/).
mpc.uel.ac.uk <http://www.mpc.ac.uk/> is live now!
