In our last edition of In Focus update, we told you we are actively engaged in the Higher Education Academy (HEA) Benchmarking of E-Learning exercise - and would be involving you soon.
To help us with this invaluable research we need you to complete an anonymous online survey giving your opinion and suggestions regarding our E-Learning culture, infrastructure and expertise before 4 February, 2007.
The results will be used to help Schools and Services identify areas for improvement and develop future E-Learning strategies. This is therefore a unique opportunity to provide your input and make a difference!

The Children’s Garden Early Years Centre held open days on Wednesday 3 and Friday 5 January. Mel Drago, who studied Business Studies at UEL from 1991-95 alongside her sister Nicole Redman – now Head of our Student Money Advice & Rights Team – visited the kindergarten with her children Matthew (3) and Luke (1).
Mel said: “The Children’s Garden is beautiful – it’s obviously been designed with the children in mind. It’s a very stimulating environment, and the staff seem really friendly.
“I’m about to start work again after maternity leave, so I’m looking for somewhere for Matthew to spend some of his time. He loves aeroplanes, so I’m sure he’ll enjoy watching them all take off across the dock at City Airport.”

James Beale, senior lecturer on our degree programme in Sports and Exercise Psychology, and also sports psychologist consultant to Essex County Cricket Club, was interviewed about our Ashes defeat on BBC Radio last Friday. James who is giving a New Year’s Lecture on motivation in sport at the Dana Centre (part of the Science Museum) tomorrow, will explore the practical techniques sports people use to inspire themselves and others.
“My Dana centre lecture will explore the techniques we can use to motivate and inspire ourselves to stick it out and reap the rewards.”
James' talk will takes place Tuesday 9 January from 7pm at the Dana Centre in South Kensington. Admission is free but advance booking needed. Call 020 7942 4040, email tickets@danacentre.org.uk, or visit www.danacentre.org.uk
