Welcome to our weekly in Focus update...... |
Past Issues << | Issue 20: Friday 15 September 2006 |
We’ve got a lively weekend planned for our campuses with visitors set to join us at Docklands as part of London’s Open House - as well as new students moving in, many of whom will be arriving with their friends and families, to our halls of residence at Longbridge Road and Docklands.
With two Welcome Talks a day at both campuses hosted by VC Professor Michael Thorne we hope our new arrivals will find our UEL community both welcoming and supportive.
Following the weekend, the week ahead gets even livelier as Welcome to UEL – First Week starts on Monday.
For the latest information about First Week see www.uel.ac.uk/firstweek.
For information about Open House see http://www.openhouse.org.uk/
From Monday 18 September and until the new parking policy comes into effect on 2 October, all staff will continue to have access to the campus car parks. However demand for spaces at Docklands is likely to greatly exceed availability during this interim period and colleagues are urged to make alternative transport arrangements where possible to alleviate the pressure on the car park and to avoid potentially being refused access.
There will be strictly no access to students during peak hours (0800-1700 Mon-Fri) with the sole exception of blue badge holders.
For more information see http://www.uel.ac.uk/facilities/security.htm
All new students for 2006/7 will be able to pick up their FREE UEL Progress Card, a partnership initiative with John Smith’s bookshops, in the Business School during First Week once they’ve registered and taken their ID card along to the John Smith’s stand. For more details about the UEL Progress Bursary and Progress Card see www.uel.ac.uk/progress
Our Alumni Office is hosting an evening of networking, information and presentations on what we and our Alumni Network have to offer our recent graduates to help them in their future careers.

In addition, there will be information on job vacancies and placement schemes run by New Dimensions – an employment service located at Newham College of Further Education.
Refreshments are available.
