News in brief

Secondary teaching trainingT'da! Top employability rates The latest Teaching Agency (TA) Performance Profiles show how high our trainee teacher employability is compared to the sector as a whole. In Secondary Maths, our employment rate of 81% of graduates who were either in employment or full time study 6 months after graduating compares to a range of 35-78% for other London universities. The sector average is 55%. In other subject areas our Secondary and Primary employability rates we are consistently 20-30% higher than the rest of the sector. Kathy Wright, Head of Secondary Teacher Training, said: "Our Secondary Teacher Training has received the highest peer praise, ranked as 'outstanding' by Ofsted and we are delighted to see this is also reflected in our graduates' employability rates."

Zaid receiving his award with Sir Robin Wales Fashion Graduate wins Mayor's Award Fashion graduate Zaid Beegun's work was selected by APE Media for the catwalk fashion show, 4fashionsense, as part the Mayor's Newham Show, held on the 12 - 13 July. Representatives from APE Media saw Zaid's work at Graduate Fashion Week after being invited to go along by staff from AVA.
