UEL Gold in Ladies Individuals and Men's Doubles

The BUCS individual ladies event saw UEL’s Anna Fitzpatrick come away with the gold medal in emphatic fashion. Fitzpatrick, the number two seed, made her way through the draw comfortably without dropping a set. Fitzpatrick’s opponent was Ana Bogdan of Coventry University; the first set was fiercely contested with both players holding firm on their service games.  A decisive break of serve saw Fitzpatrick take the first set 6-4, two breaks of serve in the second set resulted in a comfortable score of 6-2, allowing Anna Fitzpatrick became the first UEL tennis player to take individual gold in the BUCS Tennis Championships.       

The final event of the BUCS tennis championships was the men’s doubles, with UEL Sports Scholar Marshall Tutu and Masters Student Johnny Parkes representing UEL in the championship match. These two competitors made their way through the draw winning 2 out of their 3 matches on route to the final. In the finale, meeting the competition’s tops seeds from Sterling University, the pair from UEL took the match 6-7 6-3 11-9.

Two Gold medals for UEL Tennis club in their debut BUCS Tennis championships.
