The preliminary programme for this international conference, intended to bring together researchers, policy makers and postgraduate students engaged with urban development issues arising from hosting mega events is now taking shape.
Confirmed guest speakers include, amongst others, Dr. Juan Clos (Executive Director of UN-HABITAT and former Mayor of Barcelona), Prof. Lamartine Da Costa (Professor of Olympic Studies, Universidade Gama Filho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), and Prof. Mike Racco (Bartlett School of Planning, University College London).
Another highlight of the conference will be a guided field trip to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, which will open shortly before the conference.
The organisers would like to cordially invite all UEL staff and research students involved in research related to the Olympics and/or East London to submit their abstracts before the extended deadline on Friday 29 March 2013. Please send your abstract of max. 300 words to submission.legacyconference@uel.ac.uk before Friday 29 March 2013.
