Annual Fund Awards

The Alumni Development Office is pleased to announce the launch of our 2013 Annual Fund Awards. This year we will be awarding the following 4 categories: 

  • The Student Financial Assistance Grants are for first year UK and EU undergraduate students who are facing severe financial difficulties that may hamper their education and may jeopardise the student’s ability to continue with their education. The amount will be paid to successful applicant in the following September after the application is approved for funding. 
  • Annual Fund Sports Coaching Awards are for UEL students who currently hold a Level 1, 2 or 3 Coaching Qualification, be aspiring to excel towards coaching in their specific sport and would like to acquire the next level qualification. The amount of scholarship will vary from a minimum of £250 to a maximum of £1000 depending on the specific sport qualification costs, and will be paid to successful applicants in the following September after the application is approved for funding. 
  • Annual Fund Start-Up Research Grants aim to assist members of UEL staff in initiating or restarting their research activity. In order to qualify for a Start-Up Research Grant, you need to:

          - Have been a full time member of staff at UEL for a minimum of three years,

          - Not be in receipt of, or have previously been in receipt of, an internal or external research grant(s),

          - Be prepared to present your proposed work at the Annual Fund Awards in September 2013,

          - Be able to spend the grant no later than July 31 2014 and 

          - Be prepared to provide the Annual Fund Start-Up Research Committee with a full report on your work by

            October 31 2014.

  • Annual Fund Alumni Entrepreneurship Award is for UEL graduates who have a tangible business idea and are looking for funds to help start up a business. An amount of £1000 and 1 year’s free access to the Petchy Centre to the value of £2,100 will be awarded to the winner. The amount will be paid to successful applicant in the following September after the application is approved for funding.

Each of the above mentioned awards will be awarded at our fourth Annual Fund Awards Ceremony due to be held in September 2013. The money raised to fund these awards has kindly been donated to the university by our alumni and friends of UEL.

All applicants must follow the rules outlined in the relevant application form and return the completed application to the Alumni Development Office on development@uel.ac.uk no later than Friday 31 May 2013.
